During the annual 'British Record Industry Awards' Paul McCartney was handed three awards: for his technical perfection, for best British male singer and for his contributions to pop music as a member of the Beatles. Other winners were Michael Jackson, The Who, Kid Creole, The Police, Dire Straits, Kim Wilde and Yazoo.
