Having spent the past two years of her six-year career trying to deny her Monroesque beauty and gain appreciation for her singing/songwriting talents, Kim Wilde has cut her losses, revamped her image and resorted to making sexy videos guaranteed to win headlines and bring attention to her records.
Ironically, she need not have bothered: Her latest album Another Step, re-launched by MCA Records with a special ‘megamix’ recording of the album’s three hit singles, is her most mature to date. Kim has explored her vocal range as never before, and the result is an interesting collection of songs.
As well as the inevitable dance tracks – Another Step, A Duet With Junior, You Keep Me Hanging On, a remake of the Supremes’ 20-year-old hit, the first No 1 for Kim in the USA this year, and her latest hit, Say You Really Want Me – there is the haunting She Hasn’t Got Time For You.
