Kim Wilde: flirt in the warehouse

Pop superstar Kim Wilde hasn’t let her tour with Michael Jackson in 1988 go to her head. Kim has always stayed on the ground, perfers to stay private. In a London warehouse she was flirted with by a man, who didn’t recognise her.

Friday, early afternoon in the big warehouse Marks & Spencer’s in the Kensington High Street in London. Relaxed and happy a beautiful blonde is searching through the miniskirts, when she is noticed by an Adonis in a leather jacket. “Have you got to do something tonight?”. The blonde: “Yes, I’m flying to America and promote my new record there!”. A scene which happens time and again with Kim Wilde (real name Kim Smith, born November 18, 1960 in London, Chiswick). Because the platinum blonde sex bomb, who had her first hit nine years ago with “Kids in America”, has put aside her image as Brigitte Bardot of Pop and prefers to look like a conventional housewife.
“Something like that I find strange”, says the 1m70 tall Kim, when she tells the anecdote from the warehouse during the Pop/Rocky interview.

Family is the most important thing for her anyway: brother Ricky (31) co-produced her new album “Love Moves”, father Marty and mother Joyce manage her career. And with her boyfriend Calvin Hayes (Kim got to know the Johnny Hates Jazz drummer two years ago during a ‘Formel Eins’ party in Munich) the non-smoking Kim is still madly in love.

“We are not considering marriage or children at the moment, but who knows?”, Kim winks during the interview. At the moment they are decorating the 600.000 Deutschmark house in Hertfordshire. Kim is in the lead anyway: after music, house decorating is her second big love. In the autumn Kim wants to present the new LP live in Germany.
