Review – Love is

Shocking but true – it’s been over a decade since the Blonde One first set hearts spinning with Kids In America, a tune rather optimistically refered to in the blurb as one of those incandescent singles that will always evoke the music of the age in which it was made. For her fifth album for MCA, Kim Wilde adds to the usual Wilde-bunch production and songwriting team with three songs from Belinda Carlisle’s producer Rick Nowels, Elton John sideman Davey Johnson, while Paul Buckmaster arranges the strings. The Rick Nowles-produced title track shows by far the strongest here, though mid-tempo efforts like Touched By Your Magic move effectively, as Kim Wilde demonstrates her range – all the way from bubble to squeak.
