Fans rosy about Kim

Eighties singer Kim Wilde came face to face with one of her more dedicated fans while conducting a radio interview in Melbourne yesterday. Dedicated follower Neil got wind that the Kids in America singer was going to be at Gold 104 to record an interview with Grubby and Dee Dee. After calling his work to say he was going to be late, he staked out the door until he saw her roll up.

‘He turned up with a big bunch of roses and said that he had been a fan for years, which is always a great way to win me over,’ Wilde said.

Channel 9 organised Neil tickets to tonight’s Grand Final Footy Show. Wilde, who will perform two hits, met hosts Garry Lyon and James Brayshaw yesterday.

‘I am not really a football fan, but I appreciate football players from an aesthetic point of view,’ she said. ‘I am really looking forward to performing. I hear the boys have a few drinks afterwards, so I am planning on drinking them under the table.’

The English singer arrived on Monday and has been making the most of her time. She dined at Stokehouse on Tuesday and Nobu last night before attending a show by comedian, Stephen K Amos, who also turned out to be a fan.

‘I have been combating jetlag with some retail therapy. The shopping here is awesome,’ she said.
