The wild times are not over yet

Kim Wilde, Eighties icon, is here with a new album. On tour she has a stop in Vienna.

It was time that finally no wild Kim from North Korea dominated the headlines, but a Kim Wilde (57), who really knows how the “Kids in America” tick. For the sake of form it should be mentioned that the latter was probably the biggest hit of the 80s icon, the rest is history – and what a history. For songs like “Cambodia”, “You Keep Me Hangin On” or “You Came” still leave many people with the imaginary shoulder padding. But Kim Wilde is battling eternal melancholy with a new record: “Here Come the Aliens” will be released next Friday.

“The typical synth sound is still there, but first and foremost the album sounds rocking,” says Wilde about the new work. A constant has held since its very first successes – the collaboration with her brother Ricky (56). The duo has sold more than 30 million records. With the new album you want to know it again: “Of course, it’s about delivering something that can compete with the successes of yesteryear. I think we have succeeded. “The 57-year-old is on tour as well, her last stop on October 19 at the Ottakringer brewery in Vienna.
