Kim Wilde has released many songs during her career. Some of them have been covered by other artists. On Cover Friday, Wilde Life presents cover versions of Kim Wilde songs. This week: Strawberry Slaughterhouse.

Out of all the bands that have covered a Kim Wilde song, Strawberry Slaughterhouse has one of the most original band names (although Human Hamster Hybrids and the Wynona Riders also get high marks). They formed in 1992, when Casper 'Caz the Clash' Holbek (guitar), David Davidsen (bass), Henrik 'Niedermeier' Stendahl (drums) and Karsten Johansen (guitar, vocals) got together in Denmark.

They released two albums: 'Teenage torturechamber' (1994) and 'Suck and the art of surviving suburbia' (1997). The latter featured a cover version of Kim Wilde's Kids in America. The band split up in 1999, but they reconvened earlier this year, playing live in Copenhagen and Nakskov. Karsten Johansen performed 'Kids in America' live with the band Grumpynators in May.
