Zomer 2006

Date: August 13, 2006
Location: Oostende (Belgium)

On Sunday, August 13, Kim recorded a TV show called 'Zomer 2006' which was to be broadcast the following day. Luckily the show was shot indoors in Oostende. Heavy rain- and thunderstorms were taking place outside.
Rehearsals for the show started in the afternoon. First of all, Kim recorded a spontaneous acoustic version of 'Kids in America' on the Koninklijke Gaanderijen, a walking gallery just outside the building where 'Zomer 2006' was recoded, with resident musician Axl. Then it was up to Kim's band, consisting of Adam Goldsmith (bass), Neil Jones (guitar) and Richard Chambers (drums), plus Axl on bass, to rehearse for 'You came', which was to be performed acoustically live in the programme. During the late afternoon, the band played the song a number of times, always adjusting the arrangement to fit the mood of the song.
After a break for dinner, recording of the programme started a little after 9pm. The audience was admitted to the venue at 8.45pm, slightly later than usual because the heavy rains had cause a flood outside the building, which threatened to affect the mobile studio van outside.
After interviews with other guests, Kim was interviewed, after which she performed 'You came' twice before the audience. Recording ended just before 11pm. Some behind the scenes segments were shot after this, including an encounter between Kim and Jan Hoet jr. and sr. Production wrapped up around midnight.
