Kim about ‘Winter song’

I have to say I am a bit of a snow fan. I was looking around on the internet for winter songs, ‘cause I felt rather inspired by all as I looked out to our garden and I found this beautiful song by Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson. (1)

This beautiful song by Sara Bereilles captivated me when I first heard it. Ricky came up with an idea to use ‘vocoda’ harmonies, as well as adding his own to create a ‘hymn-like’ quality, which I love. The pauses in the song allow for quiet reflection, like a prayer. There are no religious references at all on this album, I leave that to each individual. I have my own opinions about spirituality which might become clear as you listen to this album…or then again, might not 😉 (2)

Lyrics

This is my winter song to you
The storm is coming soon
It rolls in from the sea
My voice, a beacon in the night
My words will be your light
To carry you to me

Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love

They say that things just can not grow
Beneath the winter snow
Or so I have been told
They say we’re buried far
Just like a distant star
I simply can not hold

Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love alive?

This is my winter song
December never felt so wrong
Cause you’re not where you belong
Inside my arms

I still believe in summer days,
The seasons always change
And life will find a way
I’ll be your harvester of light
And send it out tonight
So we can start again

Is love alive?
