80s star Kim Wilde coming back to play at Rewind 80s festival in Kembla Grange

Eighties pop princess Kim Wilde has been coaxed out of her garden to join the lucrative international tour circuit celebrating the decade’s biggest hits and artists.

Wilde had reinvented herself as an award-winning horticulturalist after becoming a mother to Harry and Rose and resisted attempts to get her back in the music game for years. “And now I am touring like a mad woman, doing all these ’80s revival shows, so music has taken over again,” she said.

“I’ve tried to analyse why these tours have become such a big thing and the only thing I can come up with is great songs that refuse to sit down and die.” The Kids In America star, who will perform at the inaugural Rewind 80s festival in Kembla Grange on October 29, turned 50 late last year. “Age doesn’t frighten me; it’s been fairly kind to me and I am very relaxed about who I am,” she said. “I have a lovely husband, a couple of great kids, a career that gives me far too much joy and lovely genes thanks to my mum’s skin and my dad’s height.”
