No question: Kim Wilde’s hits from the early Eighties have proved themselves to be indestructible. ‘Kids in America’, ‘Cambodia’ and ‘You keep me hangin’ on’ – it even stuns the sympathetic 57 year old British woman, whose career has seen some highs and lows, herself. Not just her fans from the early years stayed true, but also new generations discovered her new wave pop. That’s why Kim was unlucky with her last two albums. Christmas songs and cover versions? Her record company bosses made her do it. Wouldn’t new songs in the Eighties style be much more fun? “It was a wonderful time with some visionary music after all”, she says and with ‘Here come the aliens’ she makes a heartfelt wish come true. The new album – written and produced with her brother Ricky Wilde like in the old days – is an hommage to the atmosphere of the Eighties and sounds like her contemporaries Duran Duran, Gary Numan and Billy Idol.
