Review – Here come the aliens

Those were the days when back in the 80s, when Kim Wilde acted in the videos to “Kids In America”, “You Keep Me Hangin ‘On” and “Cambodia” with hair spray hairstyle to loud synth pop melodies, looked into the camera a little sad while making erotic lip exercises. The wind machine blew from the front and the shoulder-padded blousons were figure-hugging. Yikes! The output that the Briton presented for the start of her career shaped a generation – and Wilde is still a welcome guest at birthday parties – when it gets wet and happy. For the new album, the meanwhile 57-year-old throws herself once again in the leather jacket and makes so many younger colleague look old. In addition to some weak, greasy moments, there are also successful songs on the record – “Different Story” is one of those. But in the end you dance better to their numbers from yesteryear: “Dancing In The Dark”. Kim Wilde will be guesting in Vienna on October 19th.
