Disky does it again
The new one is called "More of the best" and is apparently a follow-up to the 1996 compilation "The best of Kim Wilde". (See the discography for details of that CD)
The new disc features the following tracks: Love blonde; Dancing in the dark; Sing it out for love; Child come away; Sparks; House of Salome; Stay awhile; Shane; Boys; Watching for shapes; Can you hear it; Back street Joe; Love blonde (12" version); Dancing in the dark (12" remix).
Basically, this is all the tracks missing from "The best of Kim Wilde". However, for reasons not entirely clear to me, the tracks Dream Sequence, Shoot to disable, Just another guy and Back street driver have been omitted. With a total playing time of 56:11 these tracks could easily have been included, which would have been a great service to fans and casual listeners alike. Now it can be chalked up as another slam in the face of the fans by EMI.
A further downside is that the tracks have not been remastered, so that "Sparks" and "Can you hear it" are still mutilated by a too early fade and a late start respectively. The only upside is that the track Shane has been made available commercially for the first time ever on CD! The cheap, effortless production from Disky was released in 1998 with the catalog no. Disky DC 886872 and can be ordered from most record shops in Holland, and probably Europe as well.
Consumers are however advised not to buy this disc if their interest in Kim Wilde is less than fanatic or completist: they would be better served by either the Originals box set or the MCA compilation "The Singles Collection".
Many thanks to Enrico
