Kim's fifth soundtrack

""
April 18, 1998 - As has recently become known to me, Kim Wilde was included in a soundtrack CD for a movie last year. The movie was called Romy and Michele's High School Reunion and featured Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow in the starring roles.

Most of you may know the latter from the US comedy series Friends. A soundtrack CD for this movie was also released in 1997, which includes Kim's You keep me hangin' on as one of the tracks. However, the track was not featured in the movie itself, but a couple of the other tracks were, including some nice 80's hits like "Cruel summer" (Bananarama), "She blinded me with science" (Thomas Dolby) and "No one is to blame" (Howard Jones).

The movie will most likely be a video-only release in Europe as it wasn't very successful. Meanwhile, the soundtrack CD can still be bought from a few Internet CD shops, most notably CD-Now, where I found out about this.

Whether Kim likes this movie or not is not known, she has indicated not being too proud to be associated with some of her earlier soundtrack contributions. Especially Running Scared, which she called 'awful', 'boring' and 'dull'. You can find information about that film and the other soundtrack contributions (Fletch, Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, Secret Admirer and Weird Science) in the recently updated Kim Wilde Encyclopedia.
