BBC looks back at Kim's debut year
January 20, 2001 - On January 20, 2001, the BBC programme "I love the 1980s" focused on 1981 for 90 minutes. Of course, 1981 was the year in which Kim Wilde shot into the charts with no less than four hit singles and an album that went gold and platinum all over the world.
It's no surprise, then, that Kim was featured in this program. Her interview was recorded in December 2000. Besides looking back on her own career, she also passes a comment on Adam Ant, presenter of the program and enjoying the same amount of success in 1981.
Further comments on Kim by Ricky and Marty Wilde, Mickie Most and video director Brian Grant were shown. Interviews with fans Paul Elfick and Marcel Rijs, the webmaster of this website, were recorded in London in October 2000, but sadly ended up on the cutting room floor.
