Kim visits the LG Internet Family

May 21, 2002 - During six days, a family of four (a mother, a father and two children - although they are not related in real life) will be living in a house designed for London's department store Harrods. The family can be observed via de web and in a shop window of Harrods.

Kim Wilde visited the family on Tuesday, May 21, as part of the celebrity challenge for that day. In town for the Chelsea Flower Show, the former singer showed the LG Internet Family how to make window boxes.

Results from the internet vote were counted at 12 o’clock and elected that the family would make the window boxes blindfold. In a two-hour gardening session, the family had to lay drainage gravel, cover with compost, dig in a variety of plants, and finally sprinkle with a watering can.

They might think they know the place backwards, but it got messy when they couldn’t see what they were doing. Steve and Charlie had to direct a blindfolded Carl and Sarah under the watchful eye of Kim. "They did really well," she said, "it’s probably the oddest thing I’ve ever done, but all the same it was really good fun."
"Doing the gardening with Kim really made me miss the outdoor space. It would be great to have a garden in here", said 'mother' Sarah Wooster (41), who is living in the shop window for a week together with 'father' Carl Newman (40), 'son' Steve Wilson (18) and 'daughter' Charlie Parker (17).
