August 11, 2003 - The debut single from the American reality TV talent show "American Juniors" will be released August 12th via Jive Records. The commercial release will feature the show's 10 finalists singing the Cathy Dennis-written song "One Step Closer." Also included will be two mixes of the American Juniors performing a cover of Kim Wilde's 1981 hit "Kids in America."

Spotlighting singers and dancers aged 6-13, "American Juniors" is modeled after Fox television's successful "American Idol" franchise, created by Simon Fuller and produced by his 19 Entertainment, televised in Europe as 'Idols'. The group of finalists consists of Morgan Burke, Lucy Hale, Chantel Kohl, Chauncey Matthews, Jordan McCoy, A.J. Melendez, Katelyn Tarver, Taylor Thompson, Tori Thompson and Danielle White.

"The talent on this show is inspiring for such young performers," Jive president Barry Weiss said in a statement. "Simon Fuller and his team at 19 Recording Ltd., coupled with our expertise in this area, should lead to great results."

Jive will follow the single with the September 9th release of "Kids in America," a 10-track album featuring the "Juniors" finalists.
