May 19, 2003 - im Wilde played Tivoli on May 16. A review...

A question that has troubled many artists over the past few years, during festival dates, is "How does one follow up a song like 'Kids in America'?" It never fails to get audiences in a state of near-hysteria. It was Kim Wilde herself who came up with the answer during a concert that made more than 25.000 people turn up in Copenhagen's Tivoli park on May 16th: with 'Kids in America' of course!

The hour-long concert in the Danish capital, her first one there in nine years, started off with Chequered love. She then followed this up with View from a bridge, Never trust a stranger, Cambodia, If I can't have you, Love blonde, Water on glass, Four letter word, You came and You keep me hangin' on.
All during the show, there were many fans taking pictures from the front row and behind, singing along and waving, even throwing flowers if that were even remotely possible. And Kim watched it all in sheer delight, almost surprised at the sight of so many people turning up to see her live in a series of Friday Night Concerts in the amusement park in the middle of Copenhagen.

The inevitable encore followed in the shape of Real wild child and Kids in America. And then it was over. Or was it? The audience, many of which had screamed "We love you Kim Wilde" for most of the night, demanded more. And so, Kim and the band had to come back for another slice of perfect live rock. And so Kids in America was played for another time, just to show that once you've played this song, there really is nothing better to follow it up with!

Pictures of the Tivoli show will be added to KimWilde.com coming from various sources in the following days, so keep checking back on this page.
