Hearse release 'Cambodia' cover
May 31, 2004 - The Swedish metal band Hearse have released a cover of Kim Wilde's "Cambodia" on their second album.
"Armageddon mon amour" features this and 10 other tracks on an album that is described by the media as "equal parts funk and crust, Motorhead meets Discharge meets Entombed meets Spiritual Beggars in a grand orgy of hooks and swagger" (The Week In Metal). No easy listening, then.
Metal covers of "Kids in America" have been made many times by many American and European bands, but for "Cambodia", this death-metal/speedrock treatment is a first. The combination of double bass drums, guitar riffs and the gurgling lead vocals is quite an interesting twist on this familiar track.
The album is available online via HMV in the UK, and various record stores in Europe and the USA.
