Garden opening overshadowed by vandalism

July 12, 2005 - On July 11, 2005, Kim Wilde officially opened Joshua's Garden, a memorial garden for a seven year-old boy at Glastonbury Thorn School, in Shenley Church End. Sadly, the opening was overshadowed by an act of vandalism.

A bench with carvings to commemorate Joshua Collins was cemented in place in the garden last Saturday. But by Monday morning, the bench had been taken away, with plants being uprooted in the attack. The family of the boy, who died in December 2003 after an operation to remove his tonsils, appealed to anyone who could help return the bench. If the bench is not found, a replacement will have to be made after funds have been raised through a raffle. The website Milton Keynes Today reported on the events in this article.
