September 17, 2005 - Celebrity gardener Kim Wilde has signed up to support Marie Curie Cancer Care's Great Daffodil Appeal 2006. She will endorse a nationwide regional press campaign in the UK and has also given her backing to Mini Pots of Care - the charity's mass daffodil planting school's initiative.

Kim said: "Daffodils are my favourite spring flower as they bring a splash of cheer and colour to gardens during the dark, gloomy days of early spring. This makes them the perfect symbol for the important work that Marie Curie Cancer Care does. By wearing a daffodil pin badge you can help Marie Curie Nurses reach even more of the 150,000 people in the UK terminally ill with cancer - giving them the choice of being professionally cared for at home, surrounded by the things they hold most dear.

"Thanks to Yellow Pages, which has covered the cost of the Appeal's promotional materials, funds raised can go straight to the people that need it. You can get your daffodil pin throughout March from thousands of local stores, schools and Marie Curie shops nationwide."

For further information about the Appeal or to find out how you can help locally please call the Daffodil Hotline on 0845 601 3107 (local rate) or visit www.mariecurie.org.uk/daffodil.

Yellow Pages has supported Marie Curie Cancer Care's Great Daffodil Appeal (formerly the Daffodil Campaign) since 1999 and its support means that funds raised go directly to Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Mini Pots of Care is also being supported by Co-operative Retail Logistics, which will be coordinating the distribution and delivery of the Mini Pots of Care kits to schools free of charge and Homebase has kindly donated all planting materials for the Mini Pots of Care kits.
