Kim Wilde rocks Berlin
The Soundfestival, organised by Berlin's Spreeradio, featured diverse artists such as the tribute band Falco Forever, the dance act Mousse T. and an all-star band entitled the Soulmates. For Eighties addicts, Nik Kershaw and Kim Wilde were the ones to see. Nik Kershaw, who entered the stage at about 4.15, did a five song set that had the audience happily singing along. When Kim Wilde took to the stage a half hour later, the audience at the Kindl-Bühne seemed to wait a while before really getting into it. Kim and the band played 'Never trust a stranger', 'Chequered love' and 'View from a bridge', and then Kim explained to the audience that she hadn't been playing live for a while, since she had been busy doing some gardening. She was clearly happy to announce that she won a gold medal at Chelsea, and most of the audience congratulated her with a round of applause.
Back to the music: her songs 'Cambodia', 'If I can't have you', 'You came' and 'You keep me hangin' on' followed, and then an English version of 'Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime'. As is tradition, the set was closed by 'Kids in America'. Kim and her brother visibly enjoyed themselves, rocking out to this classic.
