10 years ago today: fan meeting
March 10, 2006 - Exactly ten years ago today, the first ever Kim Wilde fan meeting took place. Featuring a quiz and an auction, the meeting raised more than £2000 for charity.
The fan meeting was organised by Martin Zandstra and Marcel Rijs, who met each other a few years before at a record fair. The idea of a convention for Kim Wilde fans was developed and organised within a year. The date in March coincided with the recent West End debut by Kim Wilde in the musical Tommy.
The Official Fan Club for Kim Wilde also cooperated in the organisation of the day. Special guests Melanie Almond and Roxanne Wilde brought over several highly collectable items for an auction to benefit charities such as the Ataxia UK.
