La Cigale, Paris: first concert full of surprises

""
February 21, 2007 - Kim Wilde performed live at La Cigale, Paris (France) last night. It was the first gig of the tour, and a setlist full of surprises.

La Cigale, with a capacity of almost 1500 people, was sold out, and the audience was obviously enthusiastic. The concert started at 20.00, with opening act 'Sonic Hub vs Deeks': a DJ set incorporating mixes of several Sonic Hub tracks including 'New man' and 'We're not alone', as well as a lot of other tracks such as 'Buffalo stance' (Neneh Cherry) and 'Owner of a lonely heart' (Yes). Kim took to the stage around 20.45, to play twenty tracks. She was joined on stage by her band, which included brother Rick on guitars and sister Roxanne on backing vocals. Kim's niece Scarlett also joined in on backing vocals during the encore - one night only. Big surprises during the concert: for the first time, Kim performed Depeche Mode's track 'Enjoy the silence'. Another cover came in the shape of 'Chasing cars' by Snow Patrol, a song she performed live for the first time a couple of weeks ago during a showcase. Hardcore fans were treated to 'Someday', 'Birthday song' and 1981 tracks 'Tuning in tuning on' and 'You'll never be so wrong'.
