New life for 'I am an astronaut'
Last year, Wilde Life reported on a cover by the band Snow Patrol, which was included on a compilation album called 'Colours are brighter' and subsequently as an extra track on their cd-single 'Open your eyes'.
However, earlier this year another cover version has been released - in Sweden! The original version was already popular in that country, back in 1972. In 1985, a cover version was recorded by Linus Wahlgren in Swedish, a literal translation called 'Jag är en astronaut'. Three years later, the Swedish rockband Charta 77 recorded an English-language version.
This year, Linus Wahlgren's nephew Benjamin (9) recorded another version of the Swedish cover. It was released as a single on January 22 in Sweden.
