Kim: 'Madonna stole my crown'

Kim Wilde fans have known for years that Kim Wilde is the UK's number one female popstar. The articles, published on the Showbiz Spy website and the Contactmusic.com website, quote Kim saying 'I had the top of the charts two years before Madonna came on the scene and stole my thunder. I remember seeing her and thinking, 'Here's trouble!'.

Kim actually said a similar thing in 2001(!), in the BBC documentary There's only one Madonna.

The articles make it seem like Kim is envious of Madonna, but nothing could be further from the truth: in an article on the CitéGay.com website (France, 2006), Kim said: 'She is a fabulous artist but I do not really envy her destiny. Being obligated to live surrounded by bodyguards non-stop, or to have to call upon nannies to raise her children, it is not my ideal. The family above all!'.
