Wilde Life mixtape August edition
The Wilde Life mixtape consists of twelve tracks that are streamed online on wildelife.muxtape.com. You can only listen to them, you cannot download them (don't ask...), but if at all possible, you can buy the tracks!
This month's selection consists of the following tracks:
I wanna get married - Ricky Wilde
Listed incorrectly as 'Bad boy' on the B-side of his 'Teen wave' single (1973), this song states the intention of young Ricky to get married. Fortunately, in reality he would wait for another decade or so.
The Lebanon (extended remix) - Human League
Eighties classic from fellow Here & Now act Human League in its extended version. One of the few successful pop songs about this troubled region.
Sunrise (Wayne G mix) - Duran Duran
A few years ago, Duran duran did their own comeback with this song. How appropriate for the summertime.
The lady in red - Chris de Burgh
In a recent interview, Kim confessed that she'd sung this song with Chris de Burgh in a bar in Paris. This month they are both playing live in Switzerland.
You came - Hylene
Estonian singer Hylene covered Kim's song 'You came' in a dance version. Less soul, more beats.
Lovers on a beach - Kim Wilde
A great summertime track from our very own Kim Wilde. A B-side track from her 1984 single 'The second time'. Pretty hard to come by these days - never released on cd either!
Fear of life - Sam Brown
Marty Wilde and Joe Brown are no strangers to one another; they even toured together. Sam is Joe's daughter, and this track is from her third album '43 minutes'.
I'll stand by you - The Pretenders
Listen to the original version of the track Kim has included in her live sets since April this year.
I scare myself - Thomas Dolby
Back in the Eighties, Kim said she quite liked Thomas Dolby's work. It's not hard to see why when you hear this little jewel from his album 'The flat earth'.
All fall down (extended mix) - Ultravox
Midge Ure was part of the 2004 Here & Now tour, but this Ultravox track was missing from his live set. What a shame; it's one of their best ever.
Cherry bomb - Kylie Minogue
Recent B-side track from Kylie. A fine pop track, very bubbly. Kim's sister Roxanne is still on tour with Kylie...
A new love (Richard Grey remix) - Delicious feat. Roxy Wilde
...and while on the subject of Roxanne, here she is with a recent club track.
