Kim Wilde on a painting

""
July 15, 2009 - When Kim Wilde performed in Emmen on June 13, the organizers of the 'C1000 Back to the 80's' festival used the opportunity to give her a special painting.

The painting, pictured here, was created by Paul Meijering, an Emmen-based artist who has devoted his work to portraits of celebrities in sports, movie and music. (See more information about him in the Encyclopedia, on this page.)

The painting was given to Kim 30 minutes before she was due to perform live on stage, with many people watching as they had their own brief meetings with Kim for media or private purposes.

It's not the first time that a portrait of Kim has been made by an artist: Edward Bell created a portrait of Kim in watercolours in 1983.
