'Kids in America' on X Factor

""
November 8, 2010 - The boyband One Direction, coached by Simon Cowell, has performed a version of Kim Wilde's 'Kids in America' on Saturday's edition of X Factor in the UK.

Broadcast by ITV, X Factor is a show in which several acts are competing to win a recording contract over the course of several shows. Simon Cowell decided to let the boyband One Direction sing 'Kids in America' is it was the song he would release as their single if given the choice. The interesting part of all this, is that the challenge for this particular show was to perform a song 'from America'. Apparently Cowell isn't up to speed with Kim's nationality.

The performance was embellished with fireworks and cheerleaders, giving the band all they needed to stay in the competition. Their performance was quite decent, but not very surprising. After all, there have been many covers of 'Kids in America' already...
