Come Out And Play tour ends in Utrecht
The show was the last of three gigs this weekend. On Friday night, Kim performed live at the sold out La Cigale in Paris. It was perhaps the most overwhelming audience response she'd gotten throughout the tour, as the passion of the French erupted and swept over the stage all through the night. A slight change in the setlist had also taken place: instead of a medley of tracks performed by the band after 'Together we belong', the band now played 'Cambodia Reprise' with vocals by Scarlett, followed by 'Can't get enough (of your love)' instead of 'My wish is your command'. You can see part of the performance in the video on the right (click on the picture).
After a corporate performance in Dusseldorf at the Top Hair conference on Saturday, Kim and the band came to Utrecht last night to perform the last gig. It was the first gig in a country where the album hadn't gotten a physical release (blame Sony for that), but the audience response to both the new songs and the old ones was astounding. Kim had a hard time resuming 'Cambodia' at the end of the song because they were singing the melody line of the chorus, whereas audience participation during 'This paranoia' was loud and enthusiastic. Pretty good for a Dutch crowd, which can be somewhat reserved at times. The stage was the smallest of the tour, which meant that the steps on the left and right had to go, but it also made the show very compact and tight, both visually and musically.
Backstage Kim was joined by her good friend Claire and her children Harry and Rose, who also enjoyed the concert that night. Next month, Kim will do two Night of the Proms shows and after that it's time for 'loose' gigs and festival dates. There is life in the Wilde one yet.
