Kim Wilde in News of the world (1843-2011)

""
July 10, 2011 - After a phone hacking scandal that shocked all of Britain, Rupert Murdoch has sacrificed the 168 year old newspaper News of the World. The last edition is published today. So did Kim Wilde ever appear in it?

The collection of articles on Wilde Life is the biggest archive on Kim Wilde articles worldwide, and so it was quite easy to find the ones from News of the world right here on the website. The list below takes you to the articles that have been published in the tabloid through the years.

For the casual reader, it's interesting how many errors and assumptions were included in these articles alone. In 'Para-trouper', the caption incorrectly states that Kim was at a war film premiere in Paris (the picture was taken from her appearance in the programme Cocoricoboy). A year later, the newspaper writes that, in the video for 'Say you really want me' Kim 'teases the boys before going crazy on a huge bed' (which is exaggerating things a tad).

The best example of how bad the News of the World could get, can be found in the 1998 article written around two photographs taken on the grounds of Select Sound Studio, where an unsuspecting Kim was photographed by a paparazzi-type photographer. Big surprise: a pregnant woman who has gained weight!

The articles in the News of the world's Sunday magazine were slightly better. So at least, in those 168 years, Kim Wilde fans got two magazine covers out of it and a couple of full colour articles. The newspaper said 'Goodbye and thank you' on its last front page today. Many people in the UK feel it's rather 'Goodbye and good riddens'.
