No, Kim Wilde did not smile for the photographer: she prefers a languid style. This sulky baby of twenty years, blonde manes, the pouty lips and gray-green eyes, is the new darling of British rock. Her first 45 “Kids in America” sold at the rate of 500,000 copies in five weeks, propelling her to the very top of the British charts. But the saying goes, the apple does not fall far from the tree, and the beautiful Kim is the daughter of a gentleman who, in the years 55-60, also ruled the Anglo-Saxon rock: Marty Wilde. No wonder then that she inherited this great voice and his torrid pace.
“Kids in America” is a family affair because it’s dad Marty who wrote the lyrics, Kim’s brother Rick has composed the music.
