Kim & Shaky: will the two golden Popcorn-winners compete live?

According tot he latest information from London it’s almost sure: Kim Wilde and Shakin’ Stevens, both the winners of the Golden Popcorn, will go on tour in April almost at the same time. Shaky’s tour starts on April 6 in the Meistersingerhalle in Neuremberg, and ends after 17 concerts on May 2 in the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund. The dates of Kim Wilde are not set at the time of printing. But Kim, who recently returned from a two week holiday in Barbados and immediately went away again for skiing, said: “I’ll go into the studio in February, in March my new album will be released and in April I will finally come to Germany.”

When asked whether she thinks it’s a competition with Shakin’ Stevens for live audiences, she answers: “I will certainly play live in Germany, I’ve postponed it too many times already. Shaky and I were on tour almost exactly at the same time in the UK las year, and that hasn’t hurt either of us.”

Kim will present another surprise during her tour: on one of her new songs she will play the saxophone. Kim: “I am learning the breathing technique and have been playing for four months and I am already quite good at it.”

Kim will otherwise have the same show she had in the UK, France, Scandinative and the Benelux-countries – 80 minutes, all the hits, three encores.

Shaky also plays the show he had last year in England: a surprising spectacle with lots of effects. At the beginning he will appear from a glittering casket, then 90 hot minutes will follow. Supported by a nine man band he will swirl over a sloping runway and jump across the stage. Without exaggeration: a rock ‘n’ roll show with such gags and efforts you’ve never seen before!
