Song Contest entry from Finland already controversial

Well before the final of the Eurovision Song Contest Finland has got a riot on its hands. The song ‘Fantasia’ by Kari Kuusamo is so similar to the hit ‘Cambodia’ by the British singer Kim Wilde, that people in the know wouldn’t be surprised if Finland would be disqualified.

Last year Finland got to last place with zero points at the Eurovision Song Contest. This year the Fins seem to appear with another outstanding production. The Finnish viewers voted in favour of ‘Fantasia’. That the song resembles ‘Cambodia’ a lot didn’t stand out to them, but it has become obvious to everyone now. The question is whether the composer knew that song when he wrote his successful entry, or that he made a similar melody purely by chance.

It’s a difficult decision for the Fins: to get disqualified or just finish last again.
