Since it became not just acceptable but almost obligatory to have actresses stripping off during a play, it has posed a problem to females the profession (having less attractive curvy bits to exhibit, the guys are not pressurised to the same degree). Each actress feels she has to give a sound, intellectual reason why she has agreed to strip (“I felt it was dramatically necessary to the development of the role”), or has rejected such a request (“To my mind It was a gratuitously inserted piece of titillation.”) Singer Kim Wilde (pictured left), who Is now getting film offers as a result of her chart success, has a refreshingly different reason why she would never agree to go nude. “I might look good covered up, but in the flesh I’m not exactly Bo Derek,” she says. With honesty like that, It’s a wonder she’s managed to survive in showbiz, let alone get to the top.
