Kim Wilde: Wild and pretty

A comeback from a teenage star: as a grown up vamp the British singer is presenting her new LP, ‘Love Is’. Having followed a secret diet she is back in top shape. How fashionable Kim is, shows she here as a Petra-Model.

Describe your own style!
I am a chameleon. I never follow trends and I flirt with all possible styles.

A date with a dream man. What will you wear?
Nothing sweet, more à la Boheme. I would wear black Jeans, a pair of black boots from a shop in Paris called, ‘Pied de terre’ and my lilac Jill Sander jacket with an orange pullover.
If you’re wearing boring clothes, than it is definitely the wrong guy. About make up and jewellery, I would keep it natural, so that I wouldn’t scare my dream guy away.

Which outfit would you have wearing your worst female enemy?
I would ask her to wear, a stonewashed pair of stretch jeans and a Fido-Dido t-shirt.
Fido-Dido is a comic strip figure, who no one likes, no one knows and no one wants to know about and out of the blue appears on every damned t-shirt all over the UK insulting the eye.

Imagine, we give you 5000 Euro, which fashion pieces would you buy?
A pair of leather jeans from a shop in Hamburg: ‘Pyrate Style’ and shoes from Stéphane Kélian.

What do you wear in bed?
Nothing of course.

What compliment would you appreciate?
I like it when people praise me for my home decoration. I’m actually very messy. I get a nervous breakdown every time when my mother comes by and I notice when she appraises cobwebs and dust.

What do you find most beautiful about yourself and what would you like to change?
I like my nose, but I’d like to be a bit more slim overall, except for the breasts. During the last few weeks I have lost weight with my secret diet, but it’s still not enough for me. I am obsessed with it. But I’m slowly getting over it, because I’m reading this great book, “The Beauty Myth” by Naomi Wolf about the dubiousness of the female beauty myth.

Tell us your secret diet?
Absolutely no way.

If you weren’t a pop singer, what would you be?
Maybe a gardener. I love plants, they need very much understanding, exactly like me.

What would you never wear?
I never say never.

Is there a movie star you would like to resemble?
No, but maybe one day I’ll stand in front of the camera.

What would we find in your purse?
I own a backpack. In it you would find a Walkman with a cassette of the hip-hop band Arrested Development, the book “The Beauty Myth” and my English dictionary in which I look up every word I don’t know. I love finding new words.

What is your favorite thing to wear on stage?
Nothing that distracts my fans too much from the music. That is not an easy one considering my looks and my figure.
