A charity keep-fit event backed by stars has crashed with debts of up to £1 million. Thousands of women sponsored for the Flora Aerobathon were stunned last night to learn their £10 entry fees had been swallowed up.
Stars including Marie Helvin, ex-EastEnders actress Daniella Westbrook and Suzanne Mizzi are fighting for cash they are owed. Up to 150,000 aerobics fans were expected to do marathon work-outs in London, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester, Exeter and Sheffield last month.
Only an estimated 17,000 turned up - the majority at London's Earl's Court.
Big names who took part included Gary Glitter, Kim Wilde, East 17, Lulu, 2-Unlimited, Roy Castle and Boy George.
