Joanna and Kim back the fight against brain disease

Joanna Lumley and Kim Wilde show their caring side to promote a Swinging Sixties charity ball in aid of Joanna’s “Attack on Ataxia” campaign. Donovan and The Pretty Things will be on stage at the ball, held to raise around £20,000 for the Ataxia Group, which works for the care and cure of the 2,500 people affected with the incurable brain disease in Britain.

Joanna became involved with the Ataxia Group after a great friend was struck down and died, and is now its president, while Kim became a vice-president in memory of a schoolfriend who was affected.

the charity is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Tickets for the Fabulous Swinging Sixties Night, at the Marriott Hotel on 21 October, price £45, are available from the charity’s headquarters on 0252 702864.
