Six months after telling how she feared she would never find true happiness, Kim Wilde married her Mr Right yesterday. The 35-year-old singer wed actor Hal Fowler, 28, whom she fell in love with on the set of the West End musical Tommy.
Miss Wilde, whose Eighties hits included Kids in America and You Keep Me Hangin’ On, arrived at her village church, St Giles, in a horse-drawn carriage. She was accompanied by her father, Fifties singer Marty Wilde – real name Reg Smith – and wore a traditional white dress. The groom wore a top hat and tails.
A crowd of about 200 gathered outside as the couple emerged. The reception for 150 guests was held in a large marquee in the garden of Miss Wilde’s mother’s house at Tewin, Hertfordshire. One of the guests, songwriter Mitch Murray, said the couple, who are understood to be honeymooning in Britain, were ‘very well matched’. They met earlier this year during rehearsals at the Shaftesbury Theatre. In the rock opera, Miss Wilde plays Tommy’s mother Mrs Walker, and Fowler is Cousin Kevin.
