Pop star Kim ties the knot

Pop star Kim Wilde yesterday married the actor she fell in love with while they performed in the hit West End musical Tommy. Kim (35) met Hal Fowler (28) in January when they began rehearsals for the musical at the Shaftesbury Theatre. London. The couple tied the knot at St Giles Church. Codicote, Hertfordshire, after a seven-month romance.

Kim wore a traditional white dress and arrived in a horse-drawn carriage, while the groom wore top hat and tails. The couple turned down “numerous” cash offers from magazines wanting to cover the ceremony exclusively, opting instead for a quiet family affair. More than 150 invited guests attended the ceremony at the picturesque church while a crowd of about gathered outside to see the couple off.

After yesterday’s reception they are understood to be going on a British honeymoon before Kim returns to the production. “You can imagine how absolutely consumed with joy I am to have found Hal.” Kim said yesterday. The couple later abandoned the horse-drawn carriage for the short trip to the reception, changing over instead to a white Land Rover jeep, bedecked in white ribbons and greenery.

The reception was being held at Kim’s mother’s house in Tewin, Herts. A large marquee was put up for the guests, who were due to be entertained by a string quartet and a pianist. One guest Mitch Murray from London, a songwriter contemporary of Kim’s father Marty Wilde, said, “I think that they are really well matched. Everyone is talking about that inside at the moment. It looks right and feels right.”
