A walk on the Wilde side

Our ambitious fix-thefells public appeal to raise £5 million to repari damaged upland paths was launched at the start of summer by Kim Wilde and Ian Botham. The special website www.fixthefells.co.uk, a first for the Lake District, was created to raise money and provide information on the issue.

You can visit the site and see which paths need repairing as well as how this is done.

The project is a joint venture between us, the Lake District and Tourism Conservation Partnership, The National Trust, English Nature and the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The appeal was given a public media launch by the former pop star, and now celebrity gardener, Kim Wilde – a regular walker in the Lake District, where Cat Bells is her favourite climb.
