Kim Wilde, the singing sex symbol from the early Eighties is going on tour again. For the first time in 15 years.
Tired of the 80’s revival? Well, too bad, because it goes on. Now Kim Wilde comes back. This lady, who gave as many adolescent boys wet dreams during the derided decade (and not only them) as she sold records. Millions, then. Her ‘Kids in America’ is an eternal classic, titles like ‘Chequered Love’ and ‘Cambodia’ will still be very well known. Although Miss Wilde had her biggest hit in 1986 with a cover of the old Supremes hit ‘You Keep Me Hanging On’. During the time she also competed with Madonna as the resounding sex symbol of the era. In the 90’s the reign of Kim Wilde was over, and during that decade she pulled back from the business. She played in musical, became a mother – and presenter of a TV gardening show! With the 80’s comeback revival Kim found her way back to the stage, and most recently the duet with colleague Nena in 2003 brought her back into this country. And now there is the tour. For the first time in 15 years.
With the aptly titled album ‘Never Say Never’ on which she gives new interpretations of the old hits there are also eight new songs. “Her voice has lost none of its expression”, it says on Amazon.de. But we have to be honest: the WIlde one still looks wild, or better: good. And so we get to hear ‘Kids in America’ from its mother. And that’s enough for us.
