A colossal coffee morning will kick off on Friday. For Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning takes place with the charity urging people to have a cuppa and help people dealing with cancer. And people across Welwyn Hatfield and Potters Bar have heeded the call.
- Hatfield House has swung behind the cause with The Coach House Restaurant in Stable Yard, Hatfield Park, serving free tea and coffee in return for a donation to Macmillan from 10am to 11.30am. Visitors to Stable Yard will also be able to buy raffle tickets priced £1 each, the proceeds donated to Macmillan. - Anne Kimpton, of Macmillan’s Welwyn Hatfield committee, will be holding an event in Rabley Heath Road, Welwyn, on Friday with 80s pop sensation Kim Wilde expected to attend.
- The Acacia Street, Hatfield, sheltered housing centre, will be holding a coffee morning with Mears care staff giving hand massages to residents. n Barclays Bank staff in Hatfield Town Centre and Potters Bar branches will be putting the percolator on to raise funds for the Macmillan appeal, with a coffee/tea morning on Friday. A spokeswoman said: “All the staff will be participating. We have various fundraising activities with sweets in a jar treasure hunt and an excellent raffle with many prizes donated by local shops and customers.”
