Green-fingered gurus

Do you know someone who gives back to their community through their green fingers? If so, you could nominate them for the PosturePlast Community Gardener of the Year Award. Launched by celebrity gardener Kim Wilde, the award aims to recognise an individual who has really inspired their local community to get gardening. Kim comments, ‘It’s a great scheme whcih will boost community spirit, improve the look and appal of our towns and villages and encourage people to get active. Chiswick MP Mary Macleod is also a fan of the idea: ‘Community gardens are a fabulous way to promote neighbourhood cohesion and engagement. They are also a great way to show off London’s spirit of volunteering.’

To nominate someone you know, or yourself, just send a name, age, location and 100 words explaining why they deserve to win to community@gardener.com. Entry closes on 31 December.
