Review – Wilde winter songbook

“At Christmas time the world’s a stage…” Yep, Kim’s bringing her loveable chops to bear on the Christmas themes of hope, one-ness, new life, old life, and Nik Kershaw, and she’s doing it with some gravity. “These symbols of joy are more than just toys.” She has six songs on Wilde Winter Songbook and they hold up reasonably well in the company of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and a rather sweetly modulated “Winter Wonderland”, duetted with the ineffable Rick Astley.

Assorted family members are all over it, as is entirely proper. In fact the entire producton is entirely proper, from the aforementioned parcels of gravity to the brave home-counties glow radiated by every nanosecond of the glossy multipop sound.
