Children at a Birch Green primary school impressed Kim Wilde when she judged their horticultural competition. The singer assessed the contest at Hertingfordbury Cowper C of E School last Thursday, alongside headteacher Alison Richards and chair of governors Caroline Brown.
Business manager Lynne Powell said: “They were all amazed by the standard and by the creativity within the school. It was a real eye-opener as to the talent we have.”
The competition, which was organised by the Year Three class, who invited the Kids in America singer to attend, also had categories for needlework, photography and art. It was open to parents and children.
Victoria Hellum won the best in show for adults, for her quilt. Year One pupil Joshua Wilson won best in show for children, with his display of salad vegetables that he had grown himself.
Money raised from the event will go towards a Solardome greenhouse for the school.
