Kim Wilde …honestly!

A deluxe version of your Christmas album “Wilde Winter Songbook” will be released in mid-November. What do you love most about Christmas?
I just love everything about Christmas. I especially like Christmas markets. My first experience was in Germany, where over the years I have built a whole collection of Christmas tree pendants. My song “One” is also inspired by this.

Do you have any Christmas traditions – like a dish you always cook or a movie you enjoy watching?
Every year we watch “Groundhog Day” and “A Ticket for Two”. Both films still make us laugh, even though we’ve seen them so many times. On Christmas Eve I also watch “The Snowman” and pray that it will start snowing overnight.

Are you looking forward to your 60th birthday on November 18th or is the number rather scary?
I’m going to celebrate it, if only because I hit 60 with an intact sense of humor … It’s a great achievement in this crazy world.

Is 60 better than 30?
I feel better in my head at 60 than at 30, especially when it comes to my mental health and peace of mind. If a genie granted me a wish, I wouldn’t want to be 30 again.

You look a lot younger than you actually are. What’s your beauty secret?
I think I inherited my youthful looks from my mom and dad. I am also very active, I run a lot with my dog, do gardening and yoga. I take cold baths regularly. They are fantastic for my body – both internally and externally. And best of all: I don’t drink any more alcohol.

The corona crisis is omnipresent right now. How do you deal with that? Are you optimistic about the future?
My glass is always half full. And yes, this period has brought terrible tragedies, but I try to focus on the silver lining. Spending time with the family at home, time clearing out the house and garden, but especially time to think. I have high hopes for a better future for planet earth and the flora and fauna, which we have unfortunately all taken for granted so far. This forced standstill of all human activity could be the start of a new beginning.
