Simon Le Bon & Kim Wilde
“Believe it or not, this snap was taken after a blind date arranged by Flexipop!, the first magazine I worked for. It was irreverent kind of like if Private Eye were a pop mag. We asked Simon Le Bon who he’d like to have lunch with for a fun feature, and he instantly said Kim Wilde. So, we took them to lunch at this restaurant in St John’s Wood, London, and afterwards I took some snaps – this one’s just outside the restaurant and was used on the cover. Simon was really into Kim – it was like watching a schoolkid trying to show off. He was jumping over parking meters, all sorts. But she really wasn’t into him! They had a nice lunch but, sadly for Simon, it all ended there. He did alright, though – he ended up marrying a model, Yasmin…”
