Wilde child Kim’s back on the road

I have long had a soft spot for Kim Wilde, the 1980s singing sensation who took up her heartthrob dad Marty’s baton, wowed the world with her hit Kids In America, Cambodia and You Keep Me Hangin’ On, and graced millions of bedroom walls with her Marilyn Monroe-like beauty.

When the demands of pop stardom got too much, Kim, left, jacked it in, took up gardening and became famous for that too. Now 63, she is releasing new music and planning a major tour next year. “Age,” she says, “is never a reason to stop doing what you love.”

The divorced mother of two who spent months last year virtually bedridden due to a back problem is now on course, like her 85-year-old father, to rock ’til she drops.

Like the man said, born to be Wilde.
