Kim Wilde has released many songs during her career. Some of them have been covered by other artists. On Cover Friday, Wilde Life presents cover versions of Kim Wilde songs. This week: Bitch Alert.
The rather mellow mood of last week's 'Kids in America' by Morella's Forest is replaced this week by a more aggressive version, coming from the Finnish band Bitch Alert. As the group name suggests, this is no laidback sound at all. With loud vocals and screaming guitars - and a few minor lyric changes too - this sounds a lot like many other covers, but it's still an interesting take on this classic debut single.
Bitch Alert was originally founded in 1997 by Heinie, Maritta and Maria. When Maria left the band she was replaced by new member Kimmo. In 2000, they changed their band name to Bitch Alert and signed a recording contract with Poko Records. Their first single 'Monday' was released in January 2001. Between then and their eventual breakup in 2008, they released five albums and nine singles. Their cover of 'Kids in America' appeared as a non-album B-side on their third single 'Sandy', which was taken from their second album '..rriot!'.
